Iacocca Getting Hosed By Chrysler

Your Ad Here

I haven't been feeling the blog lately, so my apologies for not writing as my main job has kept me really buse. However, I could not pass up the opportunity to comment on how former Chrysler CEO Lee Iacocca is getting royally hosed by Chrysler going into bankruptcy.

Now, I am sure he is not relying on his pension to live out his retirement, but he worked his ass off in the 1980's saving the company from the brink of extinction. Don't feel too bad for him, as he has his millions. His reward for retirement was a free car for life and a nice pension. Not anymore.

Chrysler CEO Robert Nardelli told a U.S. bankruptcy court on Thursday that Iacocca's pension would be among the obligations Chrysler will no longer have to pay if it gets bankruptcy court approval to sell itself to a "New Chrysler" to be owned by its union, the U.S. and Canadian governments and Fiat.

Chrysler said it regretted the action "in light of the many contributions these individuals have made to Chrysler over the years" and that the "New Chrysler" does not expect to reinstate the car program. Umm-hmm, sure you do you jackanapes.

Bottom line folks. Don't trust anyone when it comes to your work. Make sure you are in control of your money, and have multiple streams of income.

Try For A Dream Job In Austrailia

Your Ad Here

How would you like to be the caretaker of an island in Austrailia. Hit the beach for six months and make $100K. It sounds too good to be true, but this is an actual offer.

Billied as the "Best Job in the World," Australian tourism officials say they are seeking one lucky person to spend six months relaxing on Hamilton Island, part of the country's Whitsunday Islands, while promoting the destination on a blog.

Within 24 hours, more than 200,000 prospective applicants had clicked onto the Web site advertising the gig. The surge to the site caused it to jam, but officials were working to upgrade so people could access it again.

The job is genuine, despite the stunt PR move. Applicants must submit a 60-second video application, and 11 finalists will be flown from their home countries to Hamilton Island in May for the final selection process.

In exchange for the plush salary, accommodations in an oceanfront villa and airfare from the winner's home country, the employee will be required to stroll the island's white sand beaches, snorkel, swim in the pool and post photos and videos of his or her experiences on a weekly blog.

As of late Tuesday, at least 200,000 people logged onto the Web site to check out the listing, Boyle said. Only about 200 video applications had been submitted, but officials said they expect thousands more.

Applications are open until Feb. 22 at www.islandreefjob.com. The job begins on July 1.

Paid Surveys-Get Paid To Sign Up

Your Ad Here

You probably have seen ads on Google where you are invited to pay a bit of money to learn how to get paid for online surveys. I have said it before, and I will say it again, do not pay for this information. There are plenty of places where you can get information on websites that will pay you per survey.

A new one I have recently discovered is Focusline Surveys. They will pay you $5.00 just to sign up, and another $1.50 to complete your profiles. There is no referral program, so you do not get more money if you recruit others. The payout minium is $25.00 and is paid through PayPal.

As with all survey companies you join, you are not going to qualify for all surveys. You will be asked a series of questions and based on your answers, you will be rejected or asked to continue on with that survey. Some companies will enter you in a sweepstakes of pay a token amount for trying to qualify.

You will not make "thousands" of dollars each month either. However, if you belong to a few different companies, you might be able to make an extra $100-$200 per month without leaving the comfort of your home.

Miner Finds A New Meaning For Shafted

10 hours after settling into a new job in Montana, Sam Gallup was fired from his mining job. Poor Mr. Gallup was let go after one day, and after he was convinced to move 2000 miles from New York after hid previous mining job went belly-up nad he was laid off.

Talk about devastating. Stillwater, which laid off Gallup, mines platinum and palladium at two sites in southern Montana, laid off more than 500 employees this week from a work force of 1,770.

Bottom line: Always have something on the side to provide you with money.

Work Can Hasten Arthritis

Your Ad Here

More stories about the dangers of work. Swedish scientists say an employee's working environment can play a part in the development of rheumatoid arthritis.

Scientists at Stockholm's Karolinska Institutet say it has long been known environmental factors such as smoking and drinking alcohol -- as well as heredity -- increase the risk of the disease.

The study, published in Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics, suggests stress and a heavy work load, as well as having little control over outcomes, increase the chances of developing rheumatoid arthritis.

Study leaders Lars Alfredsson and Lars Lareskog call this psychosocial workload "low decision latitude."

"We've uncovered clear correlations between the disease and jobs in which one cannot control one's own situation," Alfredsson says in a statement.

Alfredsson presented some of the findings at a research seminar in Stockholm arranged by the Karolinska Institutet.

Bald Men Wanted For Advertising

Your Ad Here

Are you bald, male, and live in New Zealand? The national airline wants to recruit you for advertising. Air New Zealand said it wants 70 recruits to stand in lines in three airports wearing temporary tattoos on the back of their heads so the displays can be seen by people lining up behind them.

The airline would pay 1,000 New Zealand dollars for each walking billboard, according to a company official. The tattoos will promote a new system that is meant to reduce check-in waiting times.

Air New Zealand marketing manager Steve Bayliss described the campaign as "a bit of fun." "It's a ... tattoo on the back of someone's head, so they have to have their head shaved or be bald already," he told National Radio on Wednesday. "It will be an advantage for them to be bald already."

The tattoos would fade or wash off after about two weeks, he said. Bayliss added that he won't be part of the program since he was "doing OK" in the hair department.
